For two days each November, the founders, clinicians, investors, and operators shaping medical device, biotech, and digital health convene at Northeastern's Roux Institute on the Portland waterfront. NNEMTC is the only conference of its scale built specifically around the Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine ecosystem; with audiences and sponsors from around the country and beyond.
Reimagining Healthcare is the 2026 theme. Across keynotes, panels, breakouts, and the Pitch Competition + Innovation Showcase, the conversation centers on the macro shift toward proactive, continuous, and consumer-driven health.

The Innovation Showcase.
A curated floor of medical device, biotech, and digital health products being built across Northern New England, presented hands-on by the teams behind them. Walk the showcase between sessions, see what's coming next, and connect directly with the founders, engineers, and clinicians driving each product.
This is the room where supply chain partners, investors, and clinical buyers meet the next generation of devices in person. Selection is curated; participating companies are confirmed alongside the agenda each fall. Applications are now open through October 16, 2026.
From Researcher to Founder.
Founders and the people who back them on moving academic work into companies: how the jump actually happens, where teams get stuck, and what the region's incubators, institutions, and support programs can do about it. Attendees are free to move between the panel and the floor.
Finalist Pitch Competition.
A select group of finalists each deliver a five minute pitch followed by five minutes of Q&A from a panel of investor and operator judges; live, on stage, in front of the room. The winner takes the spotlight that comes with being named the year's most compelling early-stage medtech story.
Past competitors have walked away with new investor introductions, partnership conversations, and clinical pilots. Applications for 2026 closed on September 29 and finalists are notified this fall.

Parking is available onsite.
Guest parking is in the garage on Freedom Way, just to the left of the Roux Institute's main entry, managed by Unified Parking Partners at an hourly rate. You enter by inserting a credit or debit card, and the same card has to be used on the way out, so keep track of which one you tapped. Plenty of off-street and street parking surrounds the campus as well, at varying rates.

Rear Admiral Susan Blumenthal, MD, MPA
Provost’s Distinguished Professor, Northeastern University; Rear Admiral (ret.); Former US Assistant Surgeon General; Founder, Public Health Technology Field
Rear Admiral Susan J. Blumenthal, MD, MPA (ret.), is a physician, public health expert, and global health advocate who served for more than two decades as a senior government health leader under four U.S. presidents. Her roles included the first Deputy Assistant Secretary for Women’s Health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Assistant Surgeon General of the United States, and research branch chief and committee chair at the National Institutes of Health. She currently serves as Provost’s Distinguished Professor at Northeastern University; as a Visiting Professor at the MIT Media Lab; Clinical Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine; and Ambassador for the Institut Curie in France. She was a pioneering leader in exposing inequities in women’s health and developing cross-cutting initiatives to move these issues to the forefront of the national agenda. The application of technology has been a key focus of her career including establishing the first health website in the government as well as the “Missiles to Mammograms” initiative that transferred CIA, NASA, and DOD technology to improve breast cancer detection.
Her awards include honorary doctorates, the Distinguished Service Medal of the U.S. Public Health Service and appointment as a Knight (Chevalier) in the French Legion of Honor, France’s highest recognition for military and civilian achievement. Blumenthal has chaired numerous international and national medical commissions and conferences, served as the Host and Medical Director of an award-winning television series on health, and as the health columnist for US News and World Report, Huffington Post, and Elle magazines. Her areas of focus span women’s health, global health policy, mental health, and public health advocacy. She is a thought leader and founder of the new field of Public Health Technology.
